Handheld Ultrasonic System

The Handheld Ultrasonic System is a device producing and emitting a powerful, highly directional ultrasonic (thus virtually silent) acoustic field capable of causing discomfort, disorientation, nausea, and other undesirable symptoms. The effect of this device depends on the sensitivity of the target.

 

To operate this unit, simply point it in the intended target’s direction and push the “operate” toggle switch forward. Depending on the setting, an immediate or long-term effect will be noticed. The range and effectiveness of the unit depends on the acoustic sensitivity of the target.

 

The human ear can only hear a limited part of the sound spectrum, approximately 20Hz-20kHz (20,000Hz). Above that range is considered ultrasonic and below it infrasonic. It can be set for 12-17 kHz - high pitched sound audible by all. It is painful to the ears, and will keep people away. Finally, the mode switch can be set for 17-25 kHz - ultrasonic sound inaudible by (adult) humans. It is effective at creating nausea, headaches, and discomfort in humans, as well as keeping away insects and animals.

 

The Handheld Ultrasonic System is used around the world to solve the problem of unwanted gatherings of youths and teenagers in shopping malls, around storefronts, parks, railways and anywhere else they are causing problems. Its function is based on the phenomenon known as presbycusis (age-related hearing loss) which begins after the age of 20, when the hearing loss first affects the highest frequencies (18-20 kHz). The Handheld Ultrasonic System emits a high frequency tone that is audible only to teenagers but not to older individuals. And it is very annoying. It forces teenagers to move away from the target area within an average of 5-10 minutes. The device has an effective range of 15-31 meters.

For example, younger women are much more affected than older men due to being more acoustically sensitive.
