High-Powered Ultrasonic System

Product Code: AA76101
High-Powered Ultrasonic System High-Powered Ultrasonic System
The High-Powered Ultrasonic System is a four-transducer device producing and emitting a powerful, highly directional ultrasonic (thus virtually silent) acoustic field capable of causing discomfort, disorientation, nausea, and other undesirable symptoms. The effect of this device depends on the sensitivity of the target.

The human ear can only hear a limited part of the sound spectrum, approximately 20Hz-20kHz (20,000Hz). Above that range is considered ultrasonic and below it infrasonic. Although largely unheard, vibrations in these ranges can still affect the human body. Carefully-designed scientific studies have been performed and confirmed what is called the hypersonic effect - that even without consciously hearing it, high-frequency sound can have a measurable effect on the mind and body.

The High-Powered Ultrasonic System is capable of two main functions: Function 1 (17-25 KHz Inaudible Range) is to set the device at a frequency that is known to produce paranoia, nausea, disorientation and many other physiological effects; Function 2 (10-17 KHz Audible Range) allows using the system as an audible alarm to frighten off intruders or attackers. Both modes may be used in combination and are easily controlled from the top panel by the user.

Such ultrasonic devices have been used by law enforcement personnel as well as government agencies around the world in counter-terrorist and crowd control settings. This "industrial strength" ultrasonic device is now available for non-government sales for the first time. It provides serious, substantial capability to disrupt and disperse gatherings. This device has been used in recent years to "influence" speeches, demonstrations, and crowd dynamics more often than one might suspect. Police forces frequently mount these devices to vehicles for potential crowd control applications.

In some countries the High-Powered Ultrasonic System is used to deter troublesome teenagers from lingering around shops in target areas (shopping malls, around storefronts, parks, railways and anywhere else they are causing problems). Its function is based on the phenomenon known as presbycusis (age-related hearing loss) which begins after the age of 20, when the hearing loss first affects the highest frequencies (18-20 kHz). The High-Powered Ultrasonic System emits a high frequency tone that is audible only to teenagers but not to older individuals, and it is very annoying. It forces teenagers to move away from the target area within an average of 5-10 minutes.

We also offer the High-Powered Six-Transducer Ultrasonic System (140dB), model AA76124, and the High-Powered One Hundred-Transducer Ultrasonic System, model AA76125. The 1 x 1m (face) AA76125 can be manufactured in waterproof housing upon customer’s request. We can supply similar systems with as many special transducers (speakers) as required by the customer.

Ultrasonic is a gray area in many respects when the application involves the control of animals or even as a human deterrent to unauthorized intrusion. It is always best to consult with local, municipal and state laws before using this device to protect home or property.

There have been numerous requests for information on the effect of these devices on people. First, we want to make it clear that no device such as this should purposely be used on humans and we discourage this use due to the possibility of acoustically sensitive people being highly irritated. This will, however, produce anywhere from an extremely uncomfortable and irritating feeling to a severely painful effect in most people. Not everyone will experience this effect to the same degree. For example, younger women are much more affected than older men due to being more acoustically sensitive.
