Magnetic Media Degaussing Wand

The Magnetic Media Degaussing Wand effectively degausses (erases) disk drives, disk packs, drum type memories, floppies and any flat-surface magnetic memory. It is designed to provide maximum security level media degaussing for a wide range of magnetic media and has been approved by the Department of Defense for all flat media. A multi-polar design insures minimum flux levels of 6,000 gauss and full hysteresis of all magnetic states.

Conventional magnetic recording devices (optical disks, hard drives, flash memory) cannot provide the flux density required to totally erase magnetic signatures. The magnetic information remains in the media after conventional erasing techniques and reformatting procedures. This means that your data, while erased from your view, is still readable on the device. Only a high-energy magnetic circuit that provides a full-cycle (+ - + -) field can reliably erase this remnant magnetic information to a full government approved level.

A magnetic shield is provided for safe storage of the degaussing wand. All our declassification/degaussing products are manufactured to the requirements of, and meet or exceed US Department of Defense standards for CD, DVD, optical or magnetic data destruction devices. A separate magnetic shield is provided for safe and protective storage of the degaussing wand when not in use.
