The Emergency Hard Drive Eraser (Degausser) provides instant data erasure of data contained on hard drives. Only a push of a button or signal from a remote location is required to activate the erasure. The hard drive doesn't have to be powered down or removed from the computer as the hard drive is operating from within the degaussing chamber of the Emergency Hard Drive Eraser (Degausser).
HOW IT WORKS
The Emergency Hard Drive Eraser (Degausser) houses two hot-swappable hard drive bays inside the degaussing coil chamber. When the degauss mode is activated, the Emergency Hard Drive Eraser (Degausser) completely eliminates up to 6 TB of working data in less than one second. The hard drives are demagnetized, void of information, and are left in a non-functioning state. When the threat has cleared, the Emergency Hard Drive Eraser (Degausser) is ready to be reactivated by inserting two new hard drives into the drive bays.

SPEED IS ESSENTIAL
Timing is everything with emergency destruction - especially downrange. Secure erase and over-writes can take hours and are not effective methods of emergency destruction. Deletion of data encryption keys, although taking less than a second to implement, only removes the cryptographic keys leaving encrypted data fully intact and susceptible to laboratory recovery. Other methods of destruction require having an operative physically present to remove the hard disk from the computer/laptop chassis and perform additional time consuming tasks to secure the data.
In less than one second, the Emergency Hard Drive Eraser (Degausser), utilizing a hard drive degausser with a high energy magnetic pulse, completely destroys data stored on magnetic platters inside the hard drive. The data and the underlying servo tracks are eliminated. There is no chance of recovering any data.
